mimi weddell

mimi started her full time career as an actress at the age of 65! (when her husband passed away and left nothing behind but bills) She passed away a little over a month ago at the age of 94, but there's a documentary film about her which will live on foreveeer!  :) 

also check out advanced style (that's how i found out about mimi) its banner claims it's "proof from the wizened and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age." i agree.

when i netflixed grey gardens i thought i was getting the one from earlier this year with drew barrymore, but to my surprise i got the 1975 documentary, it's an intimate look at the relationship between a mother and daughter (jackie o's aunt & first cousin) all set inside their deteriorating estate, grey gardens.

(but hey any women who can marry a 29 year old at the age of 71 deserves to make the list) let me elaborate on her craziest moment ever, in 2003 at the age of 70, she announced she was pregnant!..wait there's more... with the child of an ex boyfriend...wait... who'd been dead 12 years!! then, three months later she holds a press conference to announce she had lost the baby :(

(one more thing, she's gotten so much work done that it's really hard to find a current picture of her that won't scare little children away, so quickly glance at the first picture and move quickly passed it to enjoy ms. serrano during better times, and just thank me for not posting a picture of her during her boy george phase.)

when i saw this little babe sitting front row at marc jacobs' show on monday (this sounds like i was there, unfortunately i wasn't, saw it on the internets) i yahooed immeadiately (you google, i yahoo).

mature and sophisticated indeed. check out her blog, where you'll read things like "Remember that Napoleon Dynamite movie? It was all the rage~ in third grade."

i love old people! and i personally can't wait til i'm an old lady, i'll be able to get away with saying crazy things, people will help me with my groceries and help me cross the street, i'll sit in front of the tv for hours then fall asleep on the couch without any guilt, it's going to be great, and hopefully every once in a while i'll put together an outfit like iris, just for fun.
