mimi weddell

mimi started her full time career as an actress at the age of 65! (when her husband passed away and left nothing behind but bills) She passed away a little over a month ago at the age of 94, but there's a documentary film about her which will live on foreveeer!  :) 

also check out advanced style (that's how i found out about mimi) its banner claims it's "proof from the wizened and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age." i agree.

just ignore the video and listen to the song, it's the best, buuuut it's driving me nuts that the only way i can listen to this song is with this video, i've search the internet for days now to buy the song but no luck, except a 78 single on ebay but i don't have a record player and it's $20 bucks, 'tan locos! and there are a bunch of covers of it on itunes (or maybe one of those is the original and this is a cover, oh i don't know) but they all suck! why world, why.

old babes: big edith & little edie

when i netflixed grey gardens i thought i was getting the one from earlier this year with drew barrymore, but to my surprise i got the 1975 documentary, it's an intimate look at the relationship between a mother and daughter (jackie o's aunt & first cousin) all set inside their deteriorating estate, grey gardens.

 

the wonder years...

the day the the wonder years dvds are finally officially released, you can bet i'll be camping outside best buy the night before (and i'll be the first in line) and when i finally have all six seasons in my hand i'll slowly walk up to the register and hand them over so the nice young lady can scan them, i'll pay and as soon as she hands me the bag with MY complete collection of the wonder years inside, there will be fireworks,  lots and lots of them...but until then i'll continue to watch three minute clips on youtube.... 

15 years of giant robot!

i'll have one tiny piece at a group show that's part of the giant robot biennale at the japanese american national museum, the opening is on the 24th, check it out....

enlighten!

the Good 100

i'm so excited the new issue of good magazine is out, back in august the creative team at good invited me to help with their Good 100 issue, they were making around 100 paper sculptures, one for each of their featured innovative companies, and it turned out great! Brian Rea and Atley Kasky did a great job art directing, I'm glad I was able to contribute to such a fun project, the two little heads below is just one of my contributions.....

check out the behind the scenes, there was scissors, glue and paper everywhere, can't complain 'bout that.

i wish i had more info on these images, i really want to know what she's up to (in the pictures and nowadays), all i know is that Joe Scherschel took them on August 08, 1949, and there's lots more...
